Georgia MansurGeorgia Mansur

Georgia Mansur grew up in California and moved to Australia in 1984, settling with husband Pete on a cotton property one hour west of Moree, NSW. This isolated new environment gave Georgia the opportunity to look inward for her source of creativity and self expression. Painting and communicating her world became a wellspring of discovery and joy for the artist.

Now living on their vineyard in Mudgee, Georgia has continued to explore watercolour, pastels, acrylics, mixed media and oils to find the best way to express her fascination with nature. Being able to share through art that original emotion of being moved by nature, watching the shadows grow long in the fading light is a wonderful expression of the human experience.

A particular interest in helping others to see the way light and colour on form produces artistic ‘magic’ drives Georgia to share this passion with others.

Teaching and communicating about creativity and self expression through art has been a fulfilling experience for the artist. As Artist in Residence at Hamilton Island, Great Barrier Reef, as well as teaching workshops around the country, Georgia enjoys that interaction from helping others to tap into the natural creativity within us. Giving others the key to self expression is reward in itself, watching that light bulb of inspiration click on above students heads!

Having completed a Bachelor of Communication at CSUS (California) Georgia feels painting is another level to communicate with others in a way that goes beyond words. Making a connection with the viewer of ones’ artworks and truly touching and inspiring them with what you have created is this artist’s ultimate goal.

Georgia has studied with many well known Australian and International painting masters, including Joseph Zbukvic, Herman Pekel, Patrick Carroll, Alvaro Castagnet, David Taylor, Colley Whisson, Chris Brown, Colina Grant, Les McDonough, Mignon Parker, Jeff Rigby, Jerry Fresia (Italy) and Gil Dellinger (California) to name a few.

Georgia was a finalist in the 2008 Country Energy $35,000 Landscape Prize, and has won many awards, including First Prizes in art shows with judges Edmund Capon (Director Art Gallery of NSW), Justin Miller (Director Sotheby’s Australia), Georgina Pemberton (Australian Paintings-Sotheby’s), as well as being selected for the Calleen Art Prize, Cowra (twice), The Rocks Market Art Prize (3 times) and winner of the  People’s Choice Award ‘Driven to Abstraction’, Mudgee, Highly Commended Barraba Arts Show.

Georgia Mansur’s work is in collections in Australia, USA, UK, Germany, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Georgia’s next exhibition will be at the Inverell Art Gallery, NSW, to be opened by Editor of Australian Artist magazine, Helen Grant.

Faye McBryde

Growing up in Melbourne Faye always enjoyed drawing and art projects during her school years. Painting a little over the years, it is only since retiring that she has had the luxury of spending more time to enjoy and expand her painting interests.

Originally painting in oils, she discovered the beauty of watercolour painting after joining the Watercolour Society of Qld and this was, for many years, her favored medium. She also paints in acrylics and mixed media.
Over the past few years the vibrancy and beauty of painting in pastel has captured her interest and as a member of the Pastel Society of Qld many of her current works are in this medium.

Although Faye’s paintings are mainly realistic she likes to inject colour, movement, and texture into her work and to give a painterly effect to whatever she is portraying. While she enjoys painting cityscapes and still life, her paintings also cover a broad range of subjects including seascapes, landscapes and floral subjects. Recent travels to Europe over the past years have inspired her with a whole range of new sights/scenery to paint.

Participation in various workshops and classes with well-known artists and tutors has encouraged and inspired her. She has also attended portraiture and life classes at Brisbane Institute of Art, Royal Queensland Art Society and Watercolour Society of Qld

As an award winning Brisbane artist, Faye has been successfully exhibiting and selling her work at galleries and art shows, and has been asked to donate paintings to Charity Auctions.
Paintings are held in private collections in Australia and overseas.
Faye is a member of Clifton Hill Art Group and Pastel Society of Australia.

Sally McLean

Fine artist Sally McLean loves beautiful things. Through pastels and oil she captures the very essence of nature, especially seascapes, portraits and animals.
"The beauty of the world around me gives me pleasure from panoramic ocean views; pelicans gliding over the water; or the way light shines on rain drop covered leaves making them look as if they are covered in tiny crystals. This aside, I have had an affinity with animals for as long as I can remember and from a very young age it was my ambition to become a vet. Well I never became a vet but I have married a love of animals with a passion for art by producing quality pet portraiture." Sally McLean, October 2008
Sally developed a passion for working with pastels in her final year of high school. However, it wasn’t until 2005, some 25 years later that she decided to explore and nurture her artistic capability to develop it to its fullest potential.

After leaving school she channelled her creativity into her career as an engineering draftsperson and undertook a few classes at the Brisbane Institute of Art in the early 1980s.

In 2005, with her family now grown, Sally felt it was time to nurture and re-connect with her latent artistic spirit. Under the tutelage of distinguished artist Janet Ann Skinner she honed her experience of working with oil, pastels and charcoal attending weekly classes for two years. Her oil painting skills were further enhanced by attending a workshop run by award winning artist Graham W Smith.

Sally continues to refine her skills through attending life drawing classes and a painting group. This year she has also attended photography classes at the Brisbane College of Photography and Art and has completed a Masterclass Portraiture workshop at Brisbane Artists Academe run by Archibald 2008 finalist Fu Hong .

A keen yachtsperson from her early teens, Sally’s attraction to nearby Moreton Bay and the ocean feature often in her work. Her style is strong, realistic and evokes emotion through assiduous application of colour and tone.

With a fast developing reputation for quality animal portraiture, Sally also paints people, florals, and other works by commission. Her work now hangs in private collections throughout Australia.

A member of the Pastel Society of Australia, Sally’s awards include:
• Exhibition RDA 2005 2nd prize pastel for Whisper
• Brookfield Art Show 2008 – Best Pastel for Noosa Pelicans
• Brookfield Art Show 2008 – Highly Commended Pastel Early Morning Lake Cootharaba
• Brookfield Art Show 2009 – Commended Gilded Quills
• She has exhibited at the Brookfield Show 2006, 2008 and 2009; the Royal Queensland Show (RNA) 2006; Graydon Gallery 2008 and Martin Galleries 2009.
“I’ve always enjoyed the texture and smell of new paper and the way in which different media take to it. Life is for living. When people view my paintings, I want everyone to be able to feel the same sense of emotion and joy that a particular image evoked in me the very first time I laid eyes on it.” Sally McLean, May 2008.

ALISON MURPHY

My first serious art works were produced in approximately 1994. Many of my early works were commissions of old homes in graphite or pen. I was introduced to pastel about eleven years ago, and it has been a favourite medium of mine ever since.
My works include landscapes, rural scenes, historical buildings and seascapes, with an increased interest of late in figure studies and beach scenes.
From time to time I tutor people in painting with pastel. Apart from pastels and oils, I have worked with most mediums- graphite, pen, acrylics, coloured pencils and watercolour pencils.

Works of mine have been acquired by Maryborough City Council, Mundubbera Shire Council, Central Burnett Health Service, and private collectors throughout Queensland and interstate.

Galleries where my works are held:

Wide Bay Gallery Maryborough
Warehouse Gallery Maryborough
Kingaroy Shire Gallery.
